From Dated to Dream Kitchen: A Collaborative Transformation

When friends of Penn Contractor founder Bruce Snyder came to us for a kitchen remodel, we knew the results would be a space where each element was beautiful and functional, from the ceiling fixtures to the cabinet storage. Being architects themselves, the clients were naturally very meticulous and heavily involved throughout the entire process, they designed the entire kitchen based on their specific needs. In a year-long transformation of the old 1970s kitchen, the Penn team focused on unique customizations for a refreshed, expanded space that met the client’s expectations.

The first step in this kitchen remodel was to open and expand the area by removing several existing walls, allowing extra space for the client-designed wall-to-wall custom cabinetry. The kitchen now has ample storage, with each cabinet chosen for a specific need - one contains the refrigerator, while others have an appliance garage with a lift-up door, a food filing system, and cutlery drawer inserts. Take a look at the project photos below to guess what might be behind each cabinet, painted in the gorgeous Benjamin Moore color, White Dove.

Other design elements include a floor-to-ceiling tiled wall (Daltile Ripple Gray- Revalia Remix) a real wood veneer ceiling covering (Koroseal Arbor Wood Wallcoverings), island pendants (Fluxwerx Portal Pendants), and new white oak hardwood floors

Working with clients who were fully immersed in the process was a joy, bringing their architectural expertise and creativity to every decision. The result is a space that not only reflects their functional requirements but also embodies their personal style and attention to detail. This collaboration highlights the magic that happens when design and craftsmanship come together to transform a dated space into a modern, inviting kitchen that will be cherished for years to come.
