Nestled on a beautiful property in Easton, Pennsylvania, this remodeling project involved expanding and transforming a small, underutilized garage into a functional, stylish carriage house that met the homeowners' multifaceted needs. The primary goal was to add a self-contained apartment above, ideal for accommodating guests or providing independent living quarters for family members while providing ample parking for multiple vehicles below. In the lower level of this complete renovation, additional space was created for a three-car garage featuring custom epoxy flooring, and organized storage for lawn equipment and tools. The Penn team designed the exterior of the carriage house to match the style of the main home and added a deck to the upper level to overlook the luscious green space of a neighboring golf course.
Above the garage, an 800-square-foot apartment was added with all of the amenities a guest would need - a fully equipped kitchen, a comfortable living room with a fireplace, and a spacious bedroom and bathroom. The Penn carpentry team designed and built several solutions to ensure the living space matched the style and needs of the client. The custom fireplace trim, bookcases, and a porthole window were meticulously measured and crafted to fit perfectly into the design, creating a unified look that ties the room together. With its inviting atmosphere and thoughtful details, the guest apartment offers a warm and relaxing retreat, making it an ideal space for visitors to feel at home.
